- Premier Parfait Chunky (White 16 yds, Orange 1 yd)
- Size 4.0 mm hook
- Stress Ball (1.8″)
- Plastic Tapestry Needle
- Black Medium Weight Yarn for embroidering eyes
Stitches
- sc – single crochet
- inc – single crochet increase
- dec – single crochet decrease
- flo – front loop only
- hdc – half double crochet
- sl st – slip stitch
- chain
- 5 dc bobble – yarn over, insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull through the stitch, yarn over, pull through two loops on hook. Repeat until there are six loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through all six loops
This pattern was made with the yarn under, yarn over technique.
After inserting your hook through the stitch grab the yarn so that it is under the hook (see picture) instead of wrapping it over the hook. This creates a shorter, denser stitch for amigurumi. It will affect gauge
The pattern is worked in continuous rounds

Chicken
White Yarn
Round 1: 8 sc in magic circle [8]
Round 2: (sc, inc) x 4 [12]
Round 3: sc around [12]
Round 4: (sc, inc) x 6 [18]
Round 5: sc around [18]
Place a stitch marker in the back loops of the 9th and 18th stitches of the round.
Round 6: 8sc, flo (3hdc in same stitch), 8sc, flo (3hdc in same stitch)
Round 7: 8sc, sc in the back loop from round 6 where your marker is, remove marker from back loop, 8sc, sc in the back loop from round 6 where your marker is, remove marker from back loop [18]
Round 8: sc around [18]
Place the stress ball inside the chick. Bobble is done with orange yarn. You may have to move a stitch or two to adjust bobble placement. Bobbles should be a stitch away from the wings.
Round 9: In white dec, (sc, dec) x 2, dec, switch to orange 5dc bobble, switch to white sc, dec, sc, switch to orange 5dc bobble, switch to white, dec [12]
When cutting the orange yarn I leave a long tail and use it to embroider the beak. I place 3 horizontal stitches between rounds 4&5 using a plastic tapestry needle. Weave in orange ends.
Round 10: (dec) x 6 [6]
Fasten Off. Leave hole, weave in end.
Using Black Yarn and a plastic tapestry needle, embroider eyes between rows 3 & 4, 3 stitches apart.
